U Matters
Charles Spurgeon, the greatest preacher of the 19th century, preached 44% of his sermons from the Old Testament. A study of 20th century preachers found that they based their sermons on the OT only 31% of the time. By both those measures I am far below average as a preacher.
I am going to take the Old Testament up for Lent. We begin a new series of messages on King Hezekiah from 2 Chronicles. His life and times just might teach us how to better follow Christ our King. If that isn’t enough Old Testament for you, Brenna Dykman is doing a fascinating study of the book of Amos Sunday evenings at 5PM. This Old Testament prophet has a lot to say (some of it quite painful) to those of us who don’t take justice as serious as does our Lord.
Hope you all had a fabulous CNY! Welcome back..
