When was the last time you heard a world famous theologian address the problem of suffering?
This Sunday at the 11AM services we welcome Dr. Miroslav Volf, Professor of Theology at Yale University. Don't miss it and bring your unchurched friends who struggle with how a loving God can allow such suffering in our world.
We continue the suffering theme with a series of Tuesday night Lenten talks. We invite you to
join this spiritual adventure with us! Please continue to pray and prepare for the 16 March AGM at 11AM. God will speak through his people and I for one can't wait for the Lord to reveal his will for Union's future. Gratefully, Greg |
Building Union for the Future |
For almost two decades Union Church has considered the long term redevelopment of the current, aging church building. Now the time for decision is pressing upon us. We believe that God has opened a door by providing a long term building plan that the church leadership (Deacons, Trustees, and Committee of Management) have unanimously endorsed. This endorsement came after prayer, deliberation, consideration and re-consideration of multiple alternatives. On Wednesday, 19 February, at a Joint Leaders meeting, a resolution was passed unanimously on Building Union for the Future that will be voted on by members of Union Church at the Annual General Meeting on Sun, March 16. We believe that what God is providing with this plan is not just a new and exciting place of worship, but also a strong foundation for the warm, vibrant, compassionate community that Union aspires to be, leading fruitful lives in Christ and doing Kingdom works in the community and beyond. Please seek opportunities to engage a leadership member at the information table, attend a Town Hall session, or join in prayer vigils as we approach a vote on the plan at the Annual General Meeting on 16 March. Your church leadership is united in their desire to pass on an even better spiritual home to those who follow us and we look to your support in achieving this. Humbly in Him, |
Annual General Meeting |
The congregation is encouraged to attend Union's Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held at 11AM on Sunday, 16 March in lieu of the 11AM Sanctuary Service. In order to avoid a long queue, we would recommend signing in early and collecting ballot papers from 10:30am onwards. Once registered, members will need to stay inside the Sanctuary until after the vote. Voting members will vote for church officers and the plan for Building Union for the Future will be presented for approval. The church's annual report, biographical notes on Committee of Management and Deacon nominees and church financials are now available in the Foyer.
As we approach this important meeting, we would ask all members to pray for God's will to be revealed to them and vote accordingly.

Non-members are welcome to attend the AGM in the Sanctuary but will not be able to vote. Alternatively, you may join the U Cafe Service. If you are a voting member of the church we would ask that you make it a priority to attend and cast your vote at the AGM. We look forward to seeing you there and thank you in advance for your commitment and participation.
