U MattersSince the beginning of the year we have been praying daily,

It has been inspiring to hear the testimonies of how the Lord is working in the lives of individuals. Prayer is powerful, hard work and is often described as a weapon. James 5:16 says, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Missionary William Carey stated, "Prayer -secret, fervent, believing prayer -lies at the root of all personal godliness."
There are many ways to pray and many of us are apart of various prayer Whats App groups, and pray for one another virtually. If you are not apart of a prayer group we would love to help you get connected. Additionally, there are two corporate prayer opportunities:

Prayer Event at 22A Kennedy Road: on Sunday, 26 August at 2:00PM There will be a special prayer event at the Union Church 22A Kennedy site. Those attending the prayer session will be granted access to the area immediately behind the church where Sunday school was held. The next Union Men’s event will take place on Friday, 14 September. This time we will roll up our sleeves and show acts of kindness to the homeless. Join other Young Adults at Union Church next Sunday for our monthly fellowship lunch. We’ll gather at 12:30PM in the lobby of Sunlight Tower and we will go to a restaurant at QRE. We’ll make orders and pay individually for this meal. Feel free to invite friends! Small GroupsSmall groups are where we dig into the nitty-gritty of following Jesus. Studying the Bible, reading topical books, praying, laughing and eating together--small groups are where we connect with each other. Groups meet all over Hong Kong on different days of the week. YouthYouth Summer Program - 17 August
Summer Program Friday nights in August for the youth (11 to 17 years-old) who are in Hong Kong. Different activities are planned for each Friday, at Union Church or off-site. Youth are invited to arrive at Union Church at 6:00PM, with dinner, a reading and discussion and then games. Youth will then be dismissed at 9:00PM. Union Youth Beach Kick-Off – 24 August We will be kicking off the new year of Youth Ministry with a BBQ at Deep Water Bay Beach from 6:00PM - 9:00PM on Friday August 24th. Parents are encouraged to join Youth to enjoy fellowship together. If you have questions, please email YOUTH to receive more information about getting involved. Youth and Family Mission Trip to KIM Manila – 28 September We are excited to move ahead on our fall mission trip to KIM in Manila, Philippines. Kingdom Kids is running VBS Summer Sunday School for the month of August. Children ages 3 to 11 years old joining VBS Sunday School need to be registered and you may register your children hereor at the Welcome Table. Registration is ongoing.
Sunday School Teachers Welcome Lunch, Sunday 2 September, 12:30PM to 2:30PM
Children Ministry is organising a Welcome Lunch for all of our current Sunday School teachers on Sunday, 2 September from 12:30PM to 2:30PM at Room 2 and Room 3. We would also like to extend the lunch invitation to those who may wish to find out more about joining our amazing Sunday School Teachers Team. Children Ministry is currently recruiting Sunday School Lead Teachers and Class Assistants (the 6/7 year old group and the 10 year old group at the 11:15AM service) for our 2018/2019 academic year.

Fundraising Walkathon for KSA Prison Ministry The Hong Kong Christian Kun Sun Association (KSA) will hold a fundraising walkathon “Prayer Walk”, on 29 September, Saturday afternoon, for their prison ministry that has been operating for 40 years. It would be a good chance to walk with the ministry's supporters, the rehabilitated persons as well as their families, witnessing God’s work and reaching out to those behind the bars. Peace for Every Child Charity Walk by World Vision Hong Kong Since conflict broke out in Syria in 2011, millions have been forced to leave home in search of safety. Over 3.7 million children under the age of five have been displaced since they were born. World Vision Hong Kong cordially invites our church congregation to join ‘Peace for Every Child Charity Walk’ on 6 October (Sat) to raise funds to support World Vision’s Syrian Refugee Response.
