U Matters
Two Sundays left in our current building! We are going out in fine fashion. This week will be the last U-Café and 5:00PM Service. (There will be a new version of U-Café starting 3 September at Sunlight Tower.) The 9:30AM service will be as usual but the 11:00AM will be a New Orleans Jazz Service. Following the 11:00AM Service, there will be a prayer walk to the new facility—alas without the band playing “When the Saints Go Marching In”.
We look forward to the “Remember, Rejoice, and Return” 9:30AM and 11:00AM services on 27 August. Former pastors, members, and staff will be returning to help us celebrate all that the Lord has done for and through Union. Please join us!
The sermon series in Exodus will get to the Ten Commandments in mid-September. We will start new small groups using J. John’s “Just 10”. We encourage existing groups to consider the “Just 10” program as well. More details soon!

Our Union Welcome Committee have provided name tags to help us all get to know one another better during our time of transition. If your name does not appear we will be happy to provide one for you. Let’s encourage one another and build up our fellowship together!
Join us for a Prayer Walk to Sunlight Tower starting at 12:30PM on Sunday, 20 August.
We will gather at the back of the sanctuary at 12:20 PM for a 12:30 PM start. Then through a pre-determined route, we will pray our way to Sunlight Tower, pausing at different points for reflection and prayer. Upon reaching Sunlight Tower we will pray for the new premises and the surrounding area. Afterwards, for those available, we will go to Le Pain Quotidien near Sunlight Tower for fellowship. Please join us and bring a friend. If possible, please RSVP so we can get a sense of how many will attend.
What to bring: comfortable walking shoes, water, hat and a snack if you need something to carry you until arriving to the Sunlight Tower area.

BUFF
"But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand." 1 Chronicles 29:14
David beautifully expresses a heart of gratitude here in this passage. We too should marvel at even the ability to be generous. It is one of God's good gifts to us, a sure sign of our understanding of His grace. Giving to God's kingdom, laying down our earthly treasures at his feet, has no end. We can hear and see often among fellow Christians that life is an adventure, a roller-coaster ride. And yet it is an adventure that is safe within the loving arms of the almighty God. Only the gospel of new life in Christ can sustain such a life-long experience.
As we get closer towards the move to Sunlight Tower, please give generously to the redevelopment fund or sponsor an item for Sunlight Tower. Pledge envelopes are available in the pews. Cheques may be written to “Union Church” or “Friends of Hong Kong Charities, Inc. (for US tax payers only) with a notation for “BUFF” written at the back. Sponsorship items are available for viewing on the Church’s website.

As we prepare for our move we are looking for Sunday hospitality hosts - that is, people who are willing to go to a restaurant in the Sunlight Tower area after services for Sunday September 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. A Local Ministry Needs Your Help
There’s nothing God loves more than family. Sons&Daughters opened a safe home last year to help women transition out of prostitution and into His freedom. It’s called Family Home. God takes care of His daughters there and shows us His heart.

UC PRAYER before the Move
Join us on Wednesday 23 Aug at 7:30PM, Union Church 22A, for relaxed prayer times. Many small groups and ministries teams have been praying during their individual meetings but as we look to our new temporary home and seek to lift up our yet to built new church home - we feel the need to cover this time in prayer - together as a church family.

Youth
Youth Summer Program
This Friday and is our next to last Summer Hang-Out, where our Youth Group meets for a casual time of fun and games from 6 to 9PM, for both Juniors and Seniors. There will be food, discussion and time to chill out as the School Year begins! We are excited to welcome back those Youth who have been away for the Summer.

A very special night for Union Youth Group, with an opportunity to say good bye to the building at 22A Kennedy Road, to hear from our special guests, and to play Romans & Christians one last time!
All youth are invited to come from 6PM, and Senior Hang-Out will resume that night (9pm-10pm) as well.
Friday, 1 Sept - Fall KickOff Tram Party
To kickoff Union Youth for the year, we are having a Tram Party! All youth should meet at 6:30PM at Sai Ying Pun MTR Exit B1. We’ll end the night at 9:15PM back at SYP MTR Exit B1, and dismiss the youth from there.

Kingdom Kids
VBS Sunday School
See what all the buzz is about at VBS “Maker Fun Factory”. We’ve got fun wrapped up for 2 more Sundays Aug 20 & 27 at 9:30AM & 11:00AM service for Kingdom Kids ages 3 to 11 years old. Maker Fun Factory is filled with incredible Bible learning experiences, cool worship songs, Science-Fun Gizmos, team building game and tasty treats. Registration is on going and if you would like to volunteer, there are still slots needed in the next few Sunday so get in touch with us at CHILDREN. Kingdom Kids will be kicking off the Sunday School academic year of 2017-2018 at the newly renovated place, The Sunlight Tower, on Sunday 3 September 2017 at 9:45 am and 11:15 am services. Sign-up now for Union Church’s annual All-Church Mission Trip to Manila in partnership with Kids International Ministries (KIM).
Everyone is welcome to join: KIM is baby and youth friendly!
