U Matters

We have been studying the book of Ephesians and this Sunday we will focus on chapter 5. We hope you can join us ONLINE for our traditional service at 9:45AM, or 11:15AM for our contemporary service.

The ‘Prison Epistles’ or ‘Captivity Letters’, Ephesians, Philemon, Galatians, Philippians and Colossians are all books written by the Apostle Paul whilst in prison. Many of you may feel like you are in prison whether you are self-isolating by choice or fulfilling a mandate. Working and studying from home can feel restrictive and isolating, but it can also be an opportunity for us to slow down, and as the Psalmist writes: ‘be still and know that I am God.’ (46:10) In this new season everything has changed and we are all adapting to new schedules and routines. Consider embracing the down time and using this time to pray and read God’s word more thoughtfully. Consider doing things that you don’t normally get to do. Consider writing a letter, a song, a poem; creating, cookies, cards, crafts, movies; resting, playing an instrument or a boardgame and going for a walk. You may also want to consider joining a Zoom small group or prayer group. We would love to help.

This is a “new normal” and we do not know what each day will bring but we know that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging…the Lord Almighty is with us.” Psalm 46:1;11)

Blessings in the new normal, Pastor Michele
