U Matters

Welcome to Advent! As we prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ at Christmas, I encourage you to join me and a number of others in the prayer challenge. We are committing ourselves to spend as much time praying as we usually do worrying and fretting. I am finding myself a much more peaceful person with prayer rather than panic.

Union is a church with a Scottish heritage. This Sunday at the 9:30 service we honour our tradition as we celebrate St. Andrew's Sunday. There will be bagpipes, there will be kilts, and we will learn about James Legge, the founding pastor of Union.

We are wrapping up the stewardship drive and thrilled with the preliminary results. A large number of you are pledging for the first time. Thank you!

Special Offerings

It has been a a generous year of giving and we are so appreciative of gifts that we have been able to pass on to others. Thank you Union Church! This year we have taken five special offerings and the amounts raised are as follows:

Opportunities at Union

Union Alpha's 20th Anniversary Party   We will be celebrating 20 years of running the Alpha Course at Union Church on Sat, 29 Nov, 7:30-10:00PM. We will have fun, fellowship, worship and great food, of course! Everyone who's attended Alpha before is invited to join the party. For more information, email  .

St Andrews Sunday - This Sun, 30 Nov, 9:30AM Service   Union celebrates its Scottish roots as we celebrate St Andrews Sunday. There will be 3 bagpipers and the ushers will be in kilts. Andrew was the disciple who kept bringing people to Jesus and we encourage you to bring your friends to Union as we celebrate the Advent and Christmas!

A Special Christmas Worship - This Sun, 30 Nov, 5PM Service  Union Church will present a multimedia worship experience. International recording artist Dr. ENOCH FERNANDO based out of Southern California, will bring to life the grand piano with his unique style of inspirational instrumental and vocal music which will include Christmas selections and carol singing. This will be a wonderful experience to invite friends and family too!

Canticles in Candlelight - Sun 7 Dec, 9:30AM & 11AM Services  Canticles in Candlelight is a musical service of illumination. With Scripture, narration and carols, this compelling cantata tells the story of Christ’s birth. Celebrate the light of Christ this holiday season with the Union Church choir.

The James Legge Christmas Musical - Sun 14 Dec, 9:30AM & 11AM Services   Invite a friend to join you to come see the James Legge Christmas Musical and share with him/her the GOOD NEWS of the birth of Jesus Christ. For PARENTS WITH CHILDREN IN THE CHRISTMAS MUSICAL, please help your children learn their lines and the song lyrics. This Sunday, 30 Nov, we will be distributing costumes. Come pick up your costume! If you have any questions, please contact us at  .

Christmas Fun Fair - Sun, 21 Dec, 12:00-5:00PM   The annual Union Church Christmas Fun Fair is back for one last hurrah before the church moves into redevelopment! It’s a wonderful outreach opportunity to the community, our family, friends and colleagues, and a way to share the true meaning of Christmas. More details to follow on how you can get involved!

Oasis - Bobby Tse

Bobby Tse, managing director of Sowers Exchange, will speak on 'Moving to the Other Side,' or his transition from the corporate to the social enterprise world. Bobby has 20 years experience in project management and previously in engineering with a family business. His work has taken him around the APAC region, negotiating with local businesses and government. He currently runs a social enterprise, Sowers Exchange, that bridges the gap between the corporate and social sector and is focused on alleviating poverty in the ultra impoverish communities in Asia.

Youth

Only Two more Sundays to Get Your Tickets for This Years Youth Banquet!   Our Banquet will be on Fri, 5 Dec from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. Tickets are $200 per person. Come join us for a night of Music, Fellowship, and fun. We will have a silent auction and a live auction including such great items as a custom suit curtsy of Bonham Strand, a Private Personal Training lesson with World Champion MMA Fighter Mike Powers, A Private Home Dinner Party for 6, Dinner for 2 at the Ritz and more! Kingdom Kids

Sunday School  We invite all children from ages 3 to 10 years old to join us as we begin rehearsals for the James Legge Christmas Musical this Sunday. Children, please come straight to the ground floor of the Annex Building (Lower Annex) at the beginning of the 9:30AM and 11:00AM Service.

Outreach & Missions
