U MattersDear Congregation, Thanks for all your prayers on behalf of my father. He came through the surgery without his heart stopping, and is making a quick recovery. In fact, they are going to kick him out of the hospital today and allow him to go back to his flat rather than to a nursing home. He still faces an uphill battle with cancer, but he has lived to fight another day. And what an encouragement to my family as well as my father to have Union’s wonderful community praying for him.
This Sunday we tackle, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5) The Barclay translation puts it, “O the bliss of those whose strength is in their gentleness, for they shall enter into possession of the earth.” As we prepare for Sunday, think of someone “whose strength is in their gentleness.” What would it take for you to be such a person?
