U MattersAround the world, the Christian church is getting ready for a season of reflection and preparation before Easter. The forty days, which commence Ash Wednesday (March 6th), represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of the evil one and preparing to begin his ministry.
Lent is a time of reflection and examination, a time to open our hearts to God’s grace through prayer, surrender, confession, fasting and giving. Lent is a wonderful opportunity to re-align ourselves with God, His Church and with one another.
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love and he relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:12-13
As we journey toward Easter, consider doing something new to refresh your spiritual life. Take an intentional time out with God, commit to a time of regular prayer and fasting, listen to daily accounts of the Gospel of Luke through the One Campaign, study the final words of Jesus in the book the Crucified Life. We invite you to consider joining us next Wednesday for our Ash Wednesday service, and prepare your heart for the greatest love story ever told.
Blessings,
Pastor Michele
