The offering for Cambodian flood relief was $343,166! Thank you for your continued generosity! This is the latest example of how Union can make a difference when people get together to give. This month is Stewardship Month at Union. The theme is GIVING BACK. We hope each of you will consider how you can do your part to allow this amazing congregation to evangelize, equip, and encourage in Christ's name.

Dr. Ho Yin Lee is the Director of the HKU Architectural Conservation Programmes (ACP) and the Founding Vice-President of The Hong Kong Institute of Architectural Conservationists. He will present an hour long lecture on 'Chinese Renaissance Architecture: Architectural Origins of Chinese Style Christian Churches in Hong Kong.' Dr. Lee will examine the complex historical, social and political bases of the architecture in the Ho Tung Gardens, and reveal the exciting time of hope and aspiration among young architects in a newly established modern China.

Willem Jan de Hek is an architect and urban planner, who over the years became more and more fascinated with religious architecture. He will speak on the topic of ‘Contextualism and Church Architecture’. How do urban fabric, historical aspects and sociocultural context influence the design of a church? And what is the essence of a church building? His argument will be illustrated by three projects from his own portfolio: a mixed-use religious complex in Haarlem, a conceptual design for the first protestant church in Bhutan and the interior transformation of an early 20th century church in Amsterdam. Willem Jan currently works for CITIC Capital Real Estate Group. He holds his Architecture degree from Delft University of Technology and is a part-time student in Theology at the Protestant Theological University in the Netherlands.

Dr. Eunice Seng and Dr. Koon Wee will examine the integral relationship between architecture, the church and metropolitan development.  Eunice is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong famed for her tough love teaching approach; she earned her Masters of Architecture from Princeton University and holds degrees from Columbia University and the National University of Singapore.  Her husband and co-lecturer, Koon is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong; he earned his Masters of Architecture at Yale University.  Together they direct SKEW collaborative, an architectural studio based in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Eunice and Koon have a beautiful girl Ella who attends Union Church every week with them.

Kingdom Kids

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS MUSICAL

This Sunday (November 3), we begin Sunday school rehearsals and casting call for our Christmas musical, "MTR to Bethlehem." Children from 3 to 5 years old proceed directly to the Upper Annex Right; children from 6 to 10 years old proceed directly to the Lower Annex. Please pick up your songbook and CD and sign up at the Lawn. MUSIC MAKERS

Music Makers is back every Wednesday beginning November 6 from 4:00pm-5:00pm at the Fellowship Hall. Children from 3 to 10 years old are welcome to join our music and voice coaching as we rehearse the chorus songs, main parts and solos from this year's Christmas musical. Ashok Andrews will speak on the subject of Human Trafficking. Pastor Andrews serves at Carey Baptist Church in Kolkata. Kolkata, India is perhaps the most challenging human environment in the world for ministry. He speaks globally as a representative for Partners International.

Vision Trip to Hangzhou on the weekend of November 1-3.  Hangzhou boasts the first Christian hospital established in China since 1949.  The trip will also include attending a service at one of China’s largest Christian churches, Chong-Yi Church, that seats more than 5,500.

Mali Hong from Sunrise Educational Fund will be interviewed during the services on Sunday November 24. Mali's organization works among migrant workers, and it is estimated that there are now 300 million migrant workers in China. Come and hear about the unique way that they are serving the community.

Refugee Run Crossroads (Dec. 7 Saturday): There are approx. 7000 asylum seekers in Hong Kong. Come and experience their experience! Sign up at the Table on the Green.
