U Matters
This week churches around the city participated in (recorded) a ONE worship service and this Sunday segments of that service will be used in our services. It is exciting to connect with other churches, in different languages and denominations, even if it is online. Although we may have different polity, different styles of worship, different theological views on the ‘essentials,’ the church of Jesus Christ is ONE. Christ unites and there is unity in diversity.
In the words of Jesus, “I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21
This Sunday we also unite with one of our ministry partners, International Care Ministries, who are attempting to meet the dire need for food in the Philippines. We invite you to give to this special offering, $3000.00 will buy 10,000 packs of food, but all amounts are welcome. In the words of Augustine “in essentials unity, in doubtful matters, liberty; in all things, charity.”

This Sunday we will continue with our resurrection series, Resurrection Power and Dan Tupps, our Director of Young Adults, will be speaking. Our online services are 9:45AM - traditional service and 11:15AM - contemporary service. If you would like to join the ONE worship service - you can find it here after 12.30PM on Sunday May 3rd.
If you are unable to be online at the time of our worship services, you can watch our them later in the day, via our website, app or Facebook page. Don't forget that you can still give your offering online via the giving page of our website, or by using the QR code below. You can also send us a cheque, made payable to "Union Church" or "Friends of Hong Kong Charities, Inc" if you are a US taxpayer. Online Alpha: Are you asking questions about the meaning or purpose of life? Maybe you have friends who want to know more about Jesus or Christianity. Alpha is a low-pressure course where you can ask those questions and engage in conversation, and it can even be done online! Alpha Online will take place on Wednesdays from 1PM, starting May 6th. Union Book Group: Our next book is Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World, by Bob Goff. This is a whimsical and inspiring collection of true stories about a man who seeks to live out Jesus' kind of love everyday. Books available at the church, $100. Meeting as a small group in this time is challenging, but the support from each other is more important than ever. There ARE online options - please reach out if you need help figuring this out!
